Lumsden Garage & Shop – A small local garage and shop for basic supplies, newspapers and vehicle related hardware.  A  good selection of bakery goods, fresh milk and butcher sourced meat (some frozen).  Shorter opening hours in the winter season. Post Office hours – Wednesdays 11:15-14:15; Thursdays 13:30-16:30.

Rhynie Shop – 6 miles north of Lumsden, Rhynie shop hold a slightly larger selection than Lumsden Garage & Shop.

Glenkindie Garage & Shop – about 7 miles west of Lumsden, Glenkindie Garage & Shop is similar to Lumsden but has 24/7 fuel.

Supermarkets – A small Co-op is located in Alford.  Huntly has both a Tesco and Asda.  All open 7 days a week.

Butchers – Both Alford and Huntly have very good butchers.  You can also source some of their produce at Lumsden Garage & Shop.

Flower Shop – R Barron and Sons is located in Huntly.

Follow this link for more on SSW – Lumsden is proud to be home to the Scottish Sculpture Workshop.  The Scottish Sculpture Workshop (SSW) was established in 1979 by sculptor Fred Bushe utilising the old Lumsden bakery building.  SSW is a making and thinking facility – offering the time, space, support and facilities to artists from all backgrounds to develop their practice, with an emphasis on experimentation and exploration of sculpture within the expanded field.

Burnside of Ballintomb Furniture Makers & Wood Carvers – Less than 2 miles from Lumsden and nestling in the shadow of the brooding Cabrach hills, lies the workshop and showroom of Burnside of Ballintomb Furniture Makers & Wood Carvers.  Here, proprietor and master craftsman, Julian Schmechel, uses the knowledge and experience of four generations, to produce by hand, the most breathtaking bespoke pieces, in sumptuous, locally grown hardwoods.

Mossat Trout Fishery – situated in peaceful surroundings just outside Lumsden, you can fly fish amongst beautiful Scottish scenery and wildlife.  Fly fishing is available over 3 lochs for high quality rainbow trout and brown trout. Also available is a stretch of the Mossat burn for wild Scottish brown trout. The fishery provides tackle hire and offers fly fishing tuition and instruction with low cost fishing lessons.  Facilities include a cosy wooden fisherman’s cabin to make your visit even more comfortable.
